July 2024 was marked by significant interactions between Ireland and Palestine, highlighting a robust commitment to Palestinian rights. The Irish government, led by Prime Minister Simon Harris, voiced strong condemnation of Israeli actions in Gaza while reaffirming support for international law, despite the ongoing export of dual-use products to Israel. Parliamentarians are actively engaged, with a historic invitation extended to President Mahmoud Abbas to address the Oireachtas, reflecting diverse political perspectives on European leadership regarding Palestine.
