Israeli forces raided more than 20 towns and villages across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, including a UNRWA vocational training centre in the Qalandia refugee camp, where staff were detained and tear gas was fired during a military operation. The raids involved home demolitions, arrests and incursions into several refugee camps and communities.
Reports also described a worsening wave of settler violence, with attacks on Palestinian communities and farmland, including the release of cattle into olive groves. Arab states, the Arab League and Spain condemned the escalating attacks, while UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese described the assaults as ‘pogroms against defenceless civilians.’
Israeli military officials reportedly warned the situation in the West Bank had become ‘extremely dangerous and volatile’, amid criticism that the government was failing to curb settler violence. Since October 2023, at least 1,200 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank, according to Arab League figures.
