IDF Soldier Filmed Shooting a Palestinian Man in the West Bank

An Israeli soldier has been filmed shooting a Palestinian man in the leg during a confrontation between Israeli settlers and Palestinian villagers in the occupied West Bank.

The incident took place in Faqqua, near Jenin, after Israeli settlers entered Palestinian-owned land with livestock. When Palestinian residents confronted them, Israeli soldiers arrived. Footage shows the soldiers and settlers confronting Palestinian men before one soldier fires at Qassem Hussam, hitting him in the leg. He was taken to hospital in a private car after residents said they were unable to get an ambulance to the area.

The Israeli military has confirmed that the person who fired the shot was an IDF soldier and said an investigation is underway into whether military protocol was breached. The military said soldiers had fired both into the air and towards a Palestinian during the confrontation.

The shooting comes amid escalating violence by Israeli settlers across the occupied West Bank, where Palestinian communities have increasingly faced attacks, land seizures and displacement. Earlier this month, two Palestinian teenagers were shot dead in al-Mughayyir after settlers entered the village under police and military escort and took sheep from a Palestinian home.

The footage has renewed scrutiny of the role of Israeli forces during confrontations between settlers and Palestinians.
