The Global Alliance for Palestine (GAFP), a recently launched international coalition of pro-Palestine groups, has announced a worldwide Day of Action on 10 October, calling for an arms embargo, sanctions and an end to international complicity with Israel.
Speaking to The New Arab, GAFP Executive Director Robert Andrews said the mobilisation would harness ‘the power of synchronised global action’ as the alliance prepares a major campaign for 9–11 October 2026.
Hundreds of organisations are expected to take part, with protests and other actions planned across cities and countries worldwide. The campaign’s central message will be: ‘End the Genocide, Defend the Land.’
Andrews said the mobilisation would push for an arms embargo, stronger Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) measures, and greater accountability for Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank.
‘We see this particular action as one cog in the huge machinery that the movement is building in order to pressure the occupation state in the international context,’ he told The New Arab.
The alliance plans to coordinate grassroots campaigns, student protests, workplace actions, rallies, civil disobedience and digital campaigns, with a particular focus on creating ‘synchronised visibility’.
‘Instead of each organization working in their own space at their own time, it's to bring organizations together on one day under one clear message,’ Andrews said.
The campaign comes as restrictions on pro-Palestine demonstrations have increased in several countries. Andrews said GAFP would provide organisations with legal, communications and regional support, while acknowledging that physical protests are impossible in some parts of the Middle East because of government repression.
The Alliance’s Steering Committee includes figures such as former UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, Palestinian politician Mustafa Barghouti and Greek economist Yanis Varoufakis.
Ahead of 10 October, the committee is expected to support media appearances, campaign broadcasts and digital outreach aimed at demonstrating the scale of international support for Palestinian rights.
Israel has killed more than 73,000 people in Gaza since October 2023, according to Gaza’s health ministry, including 1,286 since the October 2025 ceasefire. The occupied West Bank has also seen increased settler violence and land seizures.
