At least nine Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks early in the morning, following a particularly deadly day in which 56 people—most of them aid seekers—were killed by Israeli army fire, Al-Jazeera reported, citing medical sources.
According to the Nasser Medical Complex, five people were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a tent sheltering displaced families west of Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza.
In the central Gaza Strip, Al-Awda Hospital reported that two Palestinians were killed and several others injured by Israeli artillery shelling in the northern part of the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Meanwhile, Al-Shifa Medical Complex confirmed that two people were killed and others wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment northwest of Gaza City.
On Monday, Gaza hospital sources confirmed the killing of 56 Palestinians by Israeli fire, including 27 who were seeking aid.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza said that hospitals recorded six deaths from starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours alone—five adults and one infant.
The ministry, along with UN agencies and international organisations, has warned of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, due to the continued Israeli blockade and severe shortages of food and medical supplies.
Earlier Tuesday, sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported that three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a home in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza.
The Gaza Ministry of Health announced that the number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid since May 27 has now reached 1,516, with more than 10,067 others wounded. On Saturday, it had reported that 1,422 had been killed and over 10,000 injured in such incidents.
Hospitals received around 29 bodies and treated 300 injured aid seekers in the past 24 hours alone, the ministry added.
Since the beginning of the Israeli onslaught on October 7, 2023, the total death toll in Gaza has climbed to 60,933, with 150,027 injured, according to the ministry.
Israeli forces continue to fire daily on Palestinians queuing near distribution centres to receive desperately needed aid.
