Slovenia’s President raises palestinian flag at palace

President Natasa Pirc Musar raised the Palestinian flag last Friday (5 June) at the presidential palace, in response to the country’s new pro-Israel government removing it from parliament.

Slovenia’s new Prime Minister Janez Jansa took office after a parliamentary vote last week, and removed the Palestinian flag a day later.

Musar said the flag would remain on the facade of the Presidential Palace for one week before being moved inside the building, and that ‘the genocide against Palestinians has not been halted, and people in Gaza and the West Bank do not live in peace and dignity.’

She added that the flag represents opposition to ‘gross violation of international law and human rights.’
