Palestine Action Prisoner is being denied a suitable wheelchair in Prison.

22 year old Umer Khalid was arrested in June 2025 after allegedly taking action against the UK’s largest military airbase, RAF Brize Norton, an incident that reportedly caused millions of pounds in damage.

Khalid is being held in HMP Wormwood Scrubs in London, imprisoned without trial and not due in court until January 2027.

Umer lives with limb girdle muscular dystrophy, a degenerative condition that has reached a critical stage. Since March, the prison has repeatedly denied Umer adequate pain management or access to a doctor. He has been unable to walk and has been denied access to a suitable wheelchair, leaving him to ‘crawl across the prison floor in front of dozens of prisoners, as if I’m some wounded dog.’

His inability to walk has caused him to be unable to shower for over 20 weeks, and he has missed 3 neurology appointments in the past 3 months.

Last week, he was transferred to hospital and not allowed to contact his friends and family for over a week. In hospital, one of the doctors looking after him expressed shock at his state and said: ‘I don’t think that Wormwood Prison is safe for you to go back to at the moment.’

Yesterday, June 2nd, British MP Zarah Sultana sent a formal complaint to the Deputy Prime minister, demanding accountability.
