Ireland Rejects Record Share of Palestinian Visa Applicants as Israelis Travel Visa-Free

Ireland has rejected more Palestinian visa applications than it approved for the first time in a decade, according to government figures reported by The Ditch.

The refusal rate for Palestinian short-stay applicants has reached 63%, reportedly quadrupling since 2023. More than half of long-stay applications are now also being refused, compared with just 9% last year.

The sharp increase extends to Palestinian students, with growing numbers of study-visa applications rejected, including cases involving students with university admissions and scholarships.

Meanwhile, Israeli citizens continue to enjoy visa-free short-term travel to Ireland, highlighting a striking disparity in access as Palestinians face mounting restrictions.
