French Authorities to Investigate AIPAC-Inspired Pro-Israel Lobby ELNET

French authorities are reportedly examining whether the pro-Israel lobbying network ELNET should be formally registered as an organisation acting on behalf of a foreign power. According to French media outlet Marianne, France’s transparency watchdog is considering placing ELNET on a register for foreign interest representatives, a move that would mark an unprecedented step for a group dedicated to promoting Israeli interests among European political elites.

The scrutiny follows growing concerns over foreign influence operations in France. ELNET has spent years cultivating relationships with senior politicians, military figures and lawmakers through high-level meetings, conferences and fully-funded trips to Israel.

Inspired by America’s AIPAC, since its founding in 2007, the organisation has functioned as a key channel for advancing Israeli political, diplomatic and security interests within European institutions.

Investigations by French media have also highlighted ELNET's role in promoting Israeli defence and surveillance industries. Reports describe how the network has facilitated connections between European decision-makers and Israeli military officials, helping market technologies promoted as ‘combat-proven’ in operations against Palestinians.
