HEIST, a Berlin-based news outlet, reported today that Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner has signed an agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), one of Israel’s largest state-owned weapons manufacturers, to establish a joint aerospace and defence innovation centre in the German capital.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Wegner and IAI CEO Boaz Levy at Berlin’s ILA air show. The project aims to deepen cooperation between Berlin and Israel’s ‘defence and aerospace sectors’, with Wegner describing the city as the ‘ideal location’ for a new innovation hub.
IAI produces combat aircraft, drones, missiles, and missile defence systems — many of which are deployed in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.
